Super Immune Kids: Regular Chiropractic Care

To be healthy, every part of your body must work right. That’s the job of the brain and nervous system. Think of the brain as a computer. It gets ideas, and then tells the rest of the body what to do. Sometimes the brain and the body can’t understand each other. The messages can get mixed up. When this happens your body doesn’t work right. That’s when you should see a chiropractor. Our job is to help your brain and your body “talk” to each other so you can be healthy. Your brain talks to the rest of your body over millions of tiny wires called nerves. Messages travel from your brain to every cell in your body. Then, your body sends messages back to your brain. Your brain and your body talk to each other all the time. They talk about keeping all the parts of your body working right, like beating your heart and breathing, even when you’re asleep. A chiropractic spinal exam will tell how well your brain is talking to your body.

The human body is an amazing thing. It allows us to function for 10, 20, or even 30 years before we exhibit pain related spinal subluxations, but that does not mean we are not affected. Childhood accidents, playground bumps and falls, sport injuries, large backpacks all create stress on the growing spine. Research has shown children with colic, ear infections, frequent colds, allergies, asthma, digestive disorders and learning disabilities have all improved with chiropractic care.

Chiropractic Adjustments are made special for Kids! Adjustments feel good. Sometimes they may tickle. Sometimes they will just feel Dr. D or Dr. J’s hands lightly tap their spine, or maybe they’ll lay on a special table with parts that move. It can be a little different every time. There are lots of ways to adjust the spine. The method that Dr. D or Dr. J will use is based on age and size, and they will always choose the best and most comfortable way.

Optimal Nutrition

Eat organic meats, dairy, fruits and vegetables. If not your kids will be consuming hormones, antibiotics, toxic gases, herbicides, pesticides and more.

Pick water as the number one beverage for your child. Even drinking boxes are filled with refined carbohydrates and sugars that will do your child no good.

Eat fruit alone, within an hour of other foods (It’s great but makes digesting other foods difficult).

Replace wheat products with whole grain flours such as spelt, kamut, guinoa, amarath, and brown rice. They can be purchase as pastas, breads, muffin mixes and cereals.

Eliminate cow’s milk products. Replace with goat, rice, soy or almond milk products.

Eliminate fast foods, processed luncheon meats, and foods prepared with sugar, dyes, additives, and preservatives. These foods have no place in a growing child’s diet.

Minimize red meats, and substitute with other delicious protein sources such as veggie burgers, veggie hot dogs, fish or turkey.

Supplement with bifidus or acidophilus to rebuild the immune system. This is necessary of they have taken antibiotics (even one course), and it is also great for all kids to take.

Supplement daily with an appropriate essential fatty acid such as fish or flax oil.

Avoid giving your child antibiotics, Tempra, and other drugs. These act to weaken the child’s innate immune system. There are safe and effective natural remedies for the majority of childhood sickness (including fevers). Stock your “medicine cabinet” with some healthy choices.

Give your child a healthy shake

Blend together the following for a yummy, super-healthy shake:

1 banana + 5-10 strawberries + 1 tbsp. of natural almond or peanut butter
1 cup soy, almond or rice milk +/- 1 cup orange juice
1-2 tsp. of essential oil (fish or flax or combo) + 1 serving greens + kids
